ENDOSCOPY

A Gastroscopy is a visual investigation of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum which is performed by using an endoscope- a flexible tube with a light attached to view and examine the inner lining of the gastrointestinal tract. During the procedure, a specialist collects tissues for histopathological examination or removes polyps.

Gastroscopy is performed by professionals with many years of experience in disorders related to the gastrointestinal tract. In the outpatient setting and endoscopy unit patients receive medical care provided by  specialists in internal medicine and gastroenterologists.

Colonoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the large bowel and distal part of the small bowel with an optic camera. Colonoscpy is performed by a long tube inserted into the interior of the rectum and colon. It helps find ulcers, polypus, abnormal growths which should be taken out.

The tissue samples can be collected during the examination for further testing. This type of examination is performed by professionals with many years of experience in treating the disorders of the gastrointestinal tract within specializations of internal medicine, gastroenterology and general surgery.
